2009 HOLIDAY LETTER
November 2009
Dear Friends,
I'd like to start by saying Happy Holidays.
Without your help we would not have been able to feed the 135,000 people who went through our serving line this past year.
The words "happy holidays" sound so simple, but as you know, for many, the holidays are anything but simple. Unfortunately our community has hundreds of families that don't have much to celebrate.
Each day, approximately 400 men, women, elderly and children come through our door in search of hunger relief. Sadly, this increase for a need in services is happening at a time when donations are dropping.
As we enter the holidays please know that your generous contributions are what keep us going. It is you who have made it possible for the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen to serve this community for the past 23 years.
In addition to serving a hot meal 7 days a week, it is our goal to provide support, hope and encouragement to those in need. Additionally, our after school tutoring program focuses not only on academic success but on making sure each of "our kids" have the opportunity to actually feel successful. Self-esteem is an important component to success in life.
Most of us have so much to be thankful for. Please help us show those who don't that someone actually does care.
On behalf of the Soup Kitchen family, we thank you and wish you and yours a joyous holiday season.
Sincerely,
Shannon Santos
Executive Director
